About the Maestro

Kenshiro Sakairi坂入 健司郎

Born in Kawasaki, Kanagawa, and a graduate of the Faculty of Economics at Keio University. He studied conducting with Masanori Mikawa and Nanao Yamamoto, and cello with Naoya Mochizuki, refining his craft through masterclasses with V. Fedoseyev, Taijiro Iimori, Michiyoshi Inoue, Yoshii Inoue, and Ken-ichiro Kobayashi.

2008
Founded the Tokyo Juventus Philharmonic. Welcoming distinguished soloists, the orchestra has given numerous Japanese and world premieres.
2016
Appointed Music Director of the Kawasaki Chamber Orchestra, a newly formed professional ensemble.
2020
Released Schoenberg's "Pierrot Lunaire" on Opus One, a new label from Nippon Columbia, earning a Record Geijutsu "Editor's Choice" selection.
2024
Made his debut with the NHK Symphony Orchestra, praised in Ongaku no Tomo magazine as "a debut of real substance."

He has appeared with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo, Kyushu Symphony, Yomiuri Nippon Symphony, Japan Philharmonic, New Japan Philharmonic, Kanagawa Philharmonic, Osaka Philharmonic, Kyoto Symphony, and the Hyogo Performing Arts Center Orchestra, among many others, and has released numerous acclaimed recordings.
